July 18 Readiness Level I - Precision Through the Smoke

Posted by Eric Stevens on Jul 20th 2026

This past weekend, we were back on the range at the Tuscola County Conservation Club for our latest Readiness Level I: CPL Class. Every class has its own unique energy, and Saturday’s session was a masterclass in focus, adaptability, and excellent shooting.

We rolled into the morning dealing with heavy haze and poor air quality pushing down from the Canadian wildfires. But right as we transitioned to the live-fire portion of the course in the afternoon, the weather gave us a perfect assist. A brief downpour moved through the area, clearing out most of the smoke and leaving us with cooler temperatures with a little more humidity and better range conditions.

Small Class, Massive Results

With a tight group of three students on the line, we were able to dive deep into individualized coaching, fine-tuning mechanics, and reinforcing the core habits of safe, effective gun handling.

When it came time to qualify, the results spoke for themselves: a 100% pass rate.

Every single student on the line shot exceptionally well. It’s one thing to pass the state-mandated qualification; it’s another to execute the fundamentals so cleanly that your targets show tight, consistent groups under time and pressure. This group didn't just meet the baseline—they smashed it.

What Readiness Level I is All About

Our CPL course isn't a "check-the-box" lecture. It’s designed to bridge the gap between knowing the law and building real, practical competence with a handgun. From classroom theory and defensive mindset to live-fire mechanics under the watchful eye of an instructor, we focus on building shooters who are safe, confident, and legally prepared.

A massive congratulations to our three newest graduates. You earned those certificates through hard work, sharp focus, and excellent execution on the line.
