Aprill 11 Readiness Level I - Establishing the Standard

Posted by Eric Stevens on Apr 17th 2026

Location: Tuscola County Conservation Club

Conditions: 58°F | Sunny | Clear Skies

Operational Volume: 15 Students | 1,500+ Rounds Sustained

The Mission

On April 11, fifteen citizens stepped onto the line at the Tuscola County Conservation Club to do more than just check a box for a permit. They gathered to sharpen their mechanics and embrace the responsibility that comes with the 2nd Amendment. Our cohort ranged from those handling a sidearm for the first time to experienced shooters looking to refine their tactical efficiency.

The Execution

Despite the varied experience levels, the focus remained on the 1791 TAT Standard: high-fidelity training under professional supervision. Over the course of the day, we sent roughly 1,500 rounds downrange.

We focused heavily on:

  • Fundamental Consistency: Bridging the gap between a "new" shooter and a "capable" one.

  • Mechanical Reliability: Ensuring every student could clear malfunctions and stay in the fight.

  • The Legal Landscape: A deep dive into Michigan-specific laws to ensure every participant is legally "Zeroed In."

The Result

100% Qualification. Every student on the line met the standard and passed the course. But more importantly, they left the range as better assets to their families and their communities. Carrying a firearm is not just a right—it is a duty to be a protector and a prepared citizen.

The Logistics (TCCC Membership)

A huge thank you to the Tuscola County Conservation Club for hosting us. The weather was fantastic, and the facility remains one of the best environments in the region for sustained training.

Pro-Tip for Students: If you’re looking for a professional home to maintain the skills you learned on April 11, we highly recommend signing up for a TCCC Club Membership. Consistent training is the only way to ensure your skills don't degrade.
